Review of Round 1
Public consultation on Round 1 of the Water for Fodder program has now concluded. Thank you to everyone that provided feedback.
This feedback is a key part of the review of the program which is currently underway. All feedback received is being considered to maximise the potential of the program and make this water count for drought-affected farmers and Australian’s who rely on their produce.
The findings of the review will soon be published here.
Carryover restrictions lifted for Round 1
At the launch of the program, we identified on our website that if drought conditions improve, we may waive restrictions on carryover of water allocations.
The Hon Keith Pitt MP, Minister for Resources, Water and Northern Australia, has agreed to lift carryover restrictions of water allocations received under Round 1 of the program for all participants.
This decision was made in response to recent rain events and feedback from farmers participating in the program.
This means water received under the program can now be carried over into the 2020-21 water year, subject to water authority rules regarding carryover. There are no special arrangements for Water for Fodder allocations.
The water must still be used to grow fodder, and the allocation cannot be moved to a different account or sold. It must be used in full by the end of the next water year (2020-21).
We will continue to notify you of program announcements through this subscriber list, however you can also stay informed via our website.
Kind regards,
Water for Fodder team
