On Sunday the 26th of August there was a few articles stating that the government will be selling some of the temporary environmental water back to farmers. One of the statements made were ‘DROUGHT-stricken farmers will be able to buy water set aside for the environment with the NSW government to release up to 15,000 megalitres being stored in regional dams’ & this was set to be sold in the Gwydir, Macquarie, Lachlan, Murrumbidgee and Murray-Lower Darling valleys, along with an extra 450ML of groundwater to be sold in the Riverina. The water is to be sold at market value.

On Monday the 27th of August the Commonwealth Environmental Water Holder issued a statement that 20GL of water will be sold from the Goulburn Valley in Victoria. The sale is being administered through a competitive tender process, which will open at 10:00 am Monday 3 September 2018 and will close at 2:00pm Wednesday 5 September 2018
There will be a minimum bid size of 5 ML and a maximum bid size of 500 ML. This will provide the best possible opportunity for small as well as large irrigators to access the trade.
